Empowering Employment and Personal Growth

At Solace Supported Living, we place a strong emphasis on helping our residents set realistic and achievable employment goals. We believe that gaining meaningful employment not only benefits the individual but also contributes positively to the wider community. However, we recognize that for many individuals, especially those who have been unemployed for extended periods, the prospect of re-entering the workforce can be daunting.
To support our residents in overcoming these challenges, we have built strong partnerships with local training providers, the Job Centre, and various businesses willing to offer work experience opportunities. Our approach is focused on providing encouragement and guidance, without pressure, to help our citizens gradually ease into the world of work through a variety of vocational and non-vocational training options offered at our dedicated training facility.
The training programs we provide are designed to be a gentle reintroduction to the learning and working environment. Each course is tailored to the individual’s pace, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. The courses we offer cover a wide range of subjects, including first aid, arts and crafts, computer-based training, health and safety, foundational English and maths, as well as more focused sessions like pre-employment training. These courses are intended to enhance existing skills, build personal confidence, and prepare individuals for the next steps toward employment.
Once our residents have completed initial training programs and feel more confident in their abilities, we work with them to secure work experience opportunities. We have established valuable relationships with a range of partners who offer practical work experience in areas such as gardening, window cleaning, administration, and maintenance. These opportunities help residents gain hands-on experience and build a portfolio of work that will support their future job search.
As individuals gain experience and qualifications, we continue to support them in the next stages of their employment journey. Our vocational tutors provide assistance with CV writing, interview preparation, and job application processes, ensuring our residents are fully prepared for their transition into the workforce.
The pace at which each individual progresses through this phase is determined by their personal readiness, with our team providing consistent encouragement and guidance along the way. Every resident is given the time and support they need to move forward at a pace that feels right for them.
At Solace Supported Living, we are committed to empowering our residents, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to take the next step toward independent living and meaningful employment.
